Rooted in History - Focused on the Future

Pendleton Lumber Co. carries forward decades of sawmill history in Umatilla County. The mill in Rieth, Oregon, was originally established in the 1970s by Harris Pine Mills to support regional manufacturing tied to Pendleton’s furniture industry. Ownership later passed to the Dodge family in 1984, with the addition of a pellet mill in 2006 to expand production and improve material utilization. In 2025, Oakes Logging acquired the facility—formerly known as Blue Mountain Products—and reintroduced it as Pendleton Lumber Co.

Oakes Logging is a second-generation, family-owned timber company with over 50 years of experience operating throughout the Northwest. That background continues to shape how we approach both forestry and manufacturing, with a focus on practical operations, long-term land management, and consistent production.

Today, Pendleton Lumber Co. operates as an integrated, zero-waste facility—utilizing every part of the log from raw material to finished products. By combining lumber production with pellet manufacturing, we are able to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and maintain a steady, reliable output. As the last locally owned sawmill in Eastern Oregon, we remain closely connected to the communities and industries we serve.

Our work is grounded in responsible forestry practices that support forest health, protect water resources, and promote long-term sustainability. Through careful harvesting methods, road planning, and maintaining natural buffers, we aim to preserve the integrity of the land while keeping forests productive and resilient.

Our mission is to support the long-term health of the Blue Mountains while providing dependable wood products and strengthening the communities that rely on them.
